Moorhead Group announces new General Manager to Head up its North East division

13th November 2017 – Industry leaders in the field of bulk excavation, demolition and site remediation, the Moorhead Group, has announced the appointment of a new divisional General Manager. Jonathan Porter will be setting up and spearheading the company’s North East division from a new office in Castle Eden, just off the A19 and twenty minutes by car to Durham. Jonathan will work directly for the Moorhead Group Managing Director Colin Fitton.

Jonathan brings with him 10 years’ experience in the North East earthworks and remediation sector, four of which have been spent at a senior management level. An engineering degree and Jonathan’s formative years as an engineering project manager, coupled with extensive experience in contamination remediation, has left Jonathan well placed to head up the Moorhead expansion into a region he knows well.
Jonathan’s appointment will allow Moorhead to be competitive for work in Northumberland, Tyne and Wear, County Durham and Teeside and will complement the Leeds-based regional team, allowing Moorhead to deliver work throughout the North of England.

Commenting on his appointment, Jonathan Porter says: “Earthworks and remediation is a uniquely challenging sector of construction, and one in which specialist knowledge and experience can be invaluable to the success of a scheme. I’m looking forward to heading up Moorhead Excavations North East business and continuing to deliver specialist work to the regions construction and civil engineering contractors.

Colin Fitton, Managing Director of Moorhead Group, added: “Jonathan has a proven track record in the implementation of modern technology to improve the quality and efficiency of site work, both at pre-contract planning stages and during delivery, thereby saving time, reducing cost and minimising errors. Jonathan and his team in the North East will be looking to work with our client base as early in the project cycle as possible to offer value-engineering cost savings and as always we will be striving to deliver exceptional quality at site level.”
